Dharini Woollcombe is best known as series regular, Maya, on the critically acclaimed television series, Metropia (Omni 1, Omni 2 & Super Channel). Other film and television credits include: The Vow (Spyglass Entertainment); Micrographia (Independent Short), Warehouse 13 (Syfy Channel); Being Erica (Oxygen, SOAPnet, CBC); The Bridge (CBS, CTV); Paradise Falls (Showcase); True Crimes (CBC); and 'da Kink In My Hair (Global). Last year she was in the production of Tout Comme Elle (Necessary Angels Theatre Company), directed by Siminovitch prize-winning director Brigitte Haentsjens, as part of the Luminato Festival.
Dharini was recently accepted to the Writing With Style program at the prestigious artist's colony, The Banff Centre (Alberta), and is working on her creative non-fiction piece, The Colour of Hate.
Dharini interned at the off-Broadway, Irish Repertory Theatre in NYC. She holds a B.A. in English Literature and a B.F.A. Honours in Acting. She also trained at the TVI Actor's Studio in NYC, and studies the Meisner Technique in Toronto. Last year her short story Dancing in the Light was published by Harper Collins in a collection of stories.
She has lived in numerous countries including the U.S., Germany, Indonesia and Venezuela. She visits friends and family regularly in the UK, the US, Switzerland and Japan. She currently resides in Toronto, Canada, but travels whenever possible.
